CARA is seeking dedicated, mission-driven individuals to serve on our volunteer
Board of Directors. Board members provide governance, strategic leadership,
financial oversight, and hands-on support to help ensure the organization’s
long-term success and sustainability.
What Board Service Involves
CARA’s Board of Directors is a working board. Members are expected to:
- Actively participate in board meetings
- Serve on committees or special projects
- Provide strategic guidance and organizational oversight
- Support fundraising and community engagement efforts
- Serve as ambassadors for CARA within the communities we serve
The board currently meets at least four times per year. Both in-person
and virtual participation are available whenever possible.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants from throughout CARA’s service region, including
Lee, Chatham, Wake, Harnett, and Moore counties, as well as neighboring
communities.
We value a wide range of professional experience, backgrounds, and
perspectives. We are especially interested in individuals with experience in:
- Accounting or financial management
- Fundraising and donor development
- Event planning
- Strategic planning
- Marketing and communications
- Volunteer management
- Legal or business operations
- Nonprofit governance
- Grant writing
Experience Is Welcome. Commitment Is Essential.
Previous nonprofit board experience is helpful but not required. First-time
board members are encouraged to apply.
Most importantly, we are looking for people who believe in CARA’s mission,
are willing to contribute their time and talents, and are eager to strengthen
animal welfare throughout our region.
