Doors open at 2pm so come early to shop and mingle. The auction starts at 3pm sharp! During the auction break, be sure to visit our vendors!

Bring plenty of rolls of quarters!

You’ll need quarters to bid during the auction, so be sure to bring enough to participate in all the fun.

How does CARA For Quarters work?

When you arrive, you’ll purchase a numbered auction paddle for $5. You can choose your paddle number (when available), and a matching numbered ball will be placed into our ball cage.

Find a table with your friends or join other guests and make some new friends! Later in the event, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase additional paddles at a discounted price to increase your chances of winning.

Each table will have complimentary snacks provided by our generous vendors. You’re also welcome to bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Please note: no alcohol is permitted.

Before the auction begins, take time to browse the vendor booths. Vendors will be selling raffle tickets for their own prize items and displaying special auction items that will be featured throughout the event.

You’ll also have a chance to preview CARA’s auction items. Each item is marked with the number of quarters required to bid: 1, 2, 3, or 4 quarters. That’s where the name Quarter Auction comes from!

How Bidding Works

When an auction item is presented, our auctioneer will describe it and announce how many quarters are needed to bid.

For example, if an item requires 2 quarters, you’ll place 2 quarters into the bucket at the center of your table and raise your paddle. If you’re using multiple paddles, you’ll need to place the required number of quarters into the bucket for each paddle you raise. More paddles mean more chances to win!

After all bids have been placed, a CARA volunteer will draw a numbered ball from the ball cage. If your paddle number matches the ball drawn, you win the item!

Items requiring more quarters are generally higher in value. For example, a 2-quarter item may be worth $60 or more.

Throughout the event, we’ll also pause to feature vendor auctions and raffles. We’ll also take a short intermission so you can stretch your legs, shop with our vendors, and purchase additional paddles if you’d like.

When the event is over, you take home everything you’ve won!

Keep an eye out, too. You may even get a visit from a few adorable CARA dogs during the event!
