"My name is Dixie and I am so misunderstood.

I came to CARA as a puppy and I am mostly lab  - if you know anything about my "people"  we have a lot of energy we labbies, and all I want is a home with a big yard (with a privacy fence) so I can run and play. I just want to play and be with you. I have not had a lot of experience in a home so I need to learn my manners and I just need someone to have the patience to show me how to be a good girl. I like to play and I am good with most other dogs as long as they are nice to me. I am smart too - I can sit and lay down and fetch! I just need a chance.

Let me tell you some of my fantastic skills and qualities:

I can run very fast, but I love to run back to you when you call my name!

I play fetch like a boss!

I can climb chain link fences - I do not like them, this is my way of telling people I prefer privacy fencing.

I can catch a hotdog slice in mid-air.

There is really too much to mention about me - the best thing to do is come meet me and see if we can be friends! "

Every animal that comes into the CARA program is here because one or more events occurred  that led to this animal needing not only a home, but a person or family to love and protect them. Each animal has been loved and cared for by a small and determined group of people who want nothing more than to know each animal is safe for the rest of his or her life.
