My name is Gertrude, but you can call me Gertie. I was rescued on the side of the road, so as you can imagine - I am very fearful. I have come to know the folks at the rescue very well, and with them I do amazing!!! However, if I am just meeting you, I am very likely to not trust you right away. I really hope to find someone who will visit me at the rescue multiple times to establish a relationship. I am such a gentle girl, and love to hug you (but I am extremely careful when I do so). I am also looking for someone who can work with me to build confidence, because I am so scared of the world. I need a fenced in yard, as I can be a bit flighty on the leash sometimes. Mainly when I hear spooky sounds. I would prefer a home without small children, as they tend to be fast and loud - and to succeed I would like a more quiet and controlled home setting. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you would like to meet me!!

If you would like to adopt this pet or any of their friends, please visit CARA to fill out an online application.

Every animal that comes into the CARA program is here because one or more events occurred that led to this animal needing not only a home, but a person or family to love and protect them. Each animal has been loved and cared for by a small and determined group of people who want nothing more than to know each animal is safe for the rest of his or her life. Thank you for looking to adopt!
