Hello beautiful human! My name is Oreo. I am an 8 year old (rough estimate) Shih Tzu! I weigh about 10lbs. I am in a wonderful foster home until I find an amazing human who can adopt me! Let me tell you about my amazing qualities first! I am super dog and cat friendly. I also am good with (respectful) kids hehe! I am quiet and calm! I love to nap and go on short easy walks! I happen to love everyone I meet! I have never met a stranger in fact! I am non destructive so I do not have to be crate (preferably)! I am just the sweetest houseguest in my foster home! Now lets discuss my medical. I have congestive heart failure, which means I need a quiet and easy life. Most importantly I need an adopter who can afford my routine vet care, my food and my medications. I am currently on 4 different medications. They help keep my heart working normally. I am also on a speciality urinary food that helps with a bladder stone that the rescue is monitoring. Sadly I am not a good candidate for surgery to remove it due to my heart issues. Thankfully it is not affecting me at the moment. I take my medications so well in a little meatball! I need someone who is diligent with vet care, because if I have any complications with my heart I need to see my primary vet, and sometimes the nice folks at a special oncologist! I just recently had a visit with a great veterinary oncologist who was able to tell the rescue exactly how my hear is working! yay! For now I am doing very well. I need an adopter who is super committed to me, and understands that my life might be shorter than other dogs, but it could also be a normal lifespan! I really do not know. I love humans who are kind and affectionate! If you are interested in meeting me please fill out an adoption application, and the rescue will work on it quickly. If you are a great fit then they will schedule a meeting! Hope to meet you soon! xoxo Oreo

Every animal that comes into the CARA program is here because one or more events occurred  that led to this animal needing not only a home, but a person or family to love and protect them. Each animal has been loved and cared for by a small and determined group of people who want nothing more than to know each animal is safe for the rest of his or her life. Thank you for looking to adopt!
