German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult
Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Hello beautiful humans! My name is Windy girl. I am a 11 month old German Sheperd mix. I was found living on a property with my whole family, including my mom, dad, and several siblings. We were pretty much living in a fenced in pen with dirt surrounding our every step. There was so much trash and debri everywhere that someone thankfully reported the neglect and got us confiscated by Animal Control! That is where I met the rescue humans at CARA! When they met me I was definitely not comfortable with humans AT ALL, and would defecate and urinate when handled, as well as biting my leash furiously to get away from them. I don't think the person that had me living on their property was very nice. I am now in a foster home, and making slow progress. I LOVE and NEED to be in a pack. It makes me feel more secure. The progress I have made includes coming in and out of the house on my own, becoming housebroken, sleeping on the bed with a human and my pack, taking food from the human in the home by hand, and allowing a human to pet me gently behind my ears. I have a LONG way to go, so I need a very SPECIAL human, with tons of patience and compassion! Currently I am working hard to becoming comfortable walking on a leash. I WILL DO BEST IN A HOME WITHOUT SMALL CHILDREN (TEENS ARE OKAY!), AND I NEED A COMPANION ANIMAL TO FEEL MY HAPPIEST! I REQUIRE A FULLY FENCED IN BACKYARD!!! If you have any questions or interest in me, please feel free to text my foster mom @ 907-888-7804 :)

Every animal that comes into the CARA program is here because one or more events occurred that led to this animal needing not only a home, but a person or family to love and protect them. Each animal has been loved and cared for by a small and determined group of people who want nothing more than to know each animal is safe for the rest of his or her life.
