Hi, I'm Pedro. One day my family took me for a ride and left me at the local animal control shelter. They said that because the bank took their home and they were now living in an motel that they couldn't keep me any longer. Luckily, the people at CARA came and put me into a foster home.

New people and situations make me nervous. I can't help but to bark and growl at people I don't know, but I after they are patient with me, I decide that they are okay and I let them pet me. My foster mom says that I am a good boy and that I am still very much a puppy. She says that only some of my puppy habits are cute though. She's teaching me that it's only okay to go potty outside, not in the house. She also said that not many people like when I put my mouth on them and chew on their fingers. I do have the leash thing down though! My foster mom says that I'm even better than her own dog! She also loves how I run around and play and chase leaves in the yard. The home I'm staying in has kids from ages 14 to 4, cats (whom I'm not supposed to chase, but I can't help it when they run), and another dog my same size.

I am up date on my vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered, and on preventatives. I know that I'm just the dog you were dreaming of! Won't you give me a chance?

Our adoption fees are:
Dogs: $250
Cats: $95
Puppies under 4 months: $235 plus Spay/Neuter Deposit: $100
Kittens under 4 months: $70 plus Spay/Neuter Deposit: $100

All pets available for adoption have been spayed or neutered (unless under 4 months please read about our adoptions here ), are current on vaccinations and preventatives, and micro-chipped. Cats have been tested and confirmed negative for Feline AIDS and Leukemia. Dogs have been tested for heartworm disease.

Our shelter is located at 42 Deep River Rd in Sanford and is open Tues, Thurs,  & Fri from 3pm - 7pm & Sat from 10-2pm (other times available by appointment). CARA's adoption process and online application can be found at  http://www.cara-nc.org/info/adoption

Every animal that comes into the CARA program is here because one or more events occurred  that led to this animal needing not only a home, but a person or family to love and protect them.
