Dear prospective home:

I am the type of dog people often overlook (but shouldn't). I am very sweet and lovable. I adore riding in a car and I've learned to walk very well on a leash. I know I'm an average dog - just like a million others - but I promise that I'm just as special as those puppies in the next kennel. I've had a hard life so far and would like nothing more than to know what it's like to have a home. I hear all the others leave with their new people and how happy they are. But still I get overlooked. I wait expectantly every time people walk past me, just hoping they've come to take me home. I'm ready to go and I'll try to be a really good boy. Please give me chance to prove it.

Love, Hershey

Hersey has had a very interesting life so far. He was found with drainage tubes extending from his neck. Obviously, he had just had surgery. No vet in our area had a dog that fit his description and no family ever came forward to claim him. When he came to us he was diagnosed with heartworms. He was treated and is all better and ready for his forever home.

Please, if you have it in your heart to take this guy in submit an application or send us an e-mail.

Every animal that comes into the CARA program is here because one or more events occurred  that led to this animal needing not only a home, but a person or family to love and protect them. Each animal has been loved and cared for by a small and determined group of people who want nothing more than to know each animal is safe for the rest of his or her life. Thank you for looking to adopt!
