Australian Shepherd : : Male (neutered) : : Young : : Large
Learn more about the Australian Shepherd. Hi there! My name is Goose. I got my name because, well, I like to chase geese. In fact, my doing so almost got me a life sentence at animal control. In other words, I have a bit of goose aggression :). I got a goose and they called the sherriff and he called CARA. Would you believe it, he described me as a long-furred beagle??? Needless to say, the CARA folks were a bit surprised when a purebred, red merle aussie jumped out of the vehicle. Nothing like the long-furred beagle they were expecting. Goose is a large purebred red merle male who has been docked and has a beautiful coat with copper trim. He is vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm negative and neutered. Goose is great with other dogs and will back down. He shows no signs of food aggression and will let you remove a bone from his mouth. However, he's very confused as to why you'd want to take his bone away. He seems to understand the command "sit" so he was probably someones dog at some point. If you squat down beside him he'll put his front paws in your lap and snuggle. He is about 2 years old. Due to Goose's (or should that be Geese's) large size he would be better with children over 8. Australian shepherds are a high energy breed. It is preferable that Goose go to a family familar with this breed. If you are not familar with the breed, please read Is an Australian Shepherd right for you?. If you would like to adopt Goose, please visit CARA to fill out an on-line application or e-mail us at cara@cara-nc.org.
More about GooseIs Not Good with Kids Every animal that comes into the CARA program is here because one or more events occurred that led to this animal needing not only a home, but a person or family to love and protect them. Each animal has been loved and cared for by a small and determined group of people who want nothing more than to know each animal is safe for the rest of his or her life. Thank you for looking to adopt! |
