Named after the couragous "Old Dan" From Where the Red Fern Grows, Dan is a special dog. Dan is super friendly to other dogs, big and small, children of all ages, and cats! He is a kind soul who is ready for a friend who will take care of him forever. Dan is heartworm negative, up to date on his shots and has been neutered. Dan is a special needs dog due to his diagnosis of hip dysplasia. Dan may need surgery in the future, and needs a home that will provide him the needed supplements that will help to keep his joints pain free. Dan loves to run, and would prefer a home with a large fenced back yard. Dan is a great dog who has years of love and life to give the lucky person who will adopt him! If you would like to adopt Dan, please visit CARA to fill out an on-line application or e-mail us at cara@cara-nc.org.

Every animal that comes into the CARA program is here because one or more events occurred that led to this animal needing not only a home, but a person or family to love and protect them. Each animal has been loved and cared for by a small and determined group of people who want nothing more than to know each animal is safe for the rest of his or her life.
