I have the Character Trades of a Beagle and it's possible that I am one or related to one. I am defiantly a hunting dog, no matter what I am. I have the keen eye required to pick that one open dogfood can out of many. I have the nose that can sniff out that can of dog food from miles away. I have the highly developed hearing, that will not miss that soft, loving noise of a can opener. I am a strong character hidden behind the manners of a gentleman and a little shyness. I am protective of those I love; and faithful to them. I have the heart of a knight and warrior in the body of a handsome fellow.

While I do like old and young, I think I would be perfect for the retired Couple, Lady, Gentleman, that likes to travel and see the world. I prefer a quiet morning on the back porch to a house full of action. Or a ride in the pickup down an old country road to the noisy life in the city. I want to sit beside you, rolling down the highway to the next adventure. Stretch out beside your chair in a quiet evening and watch the stars.

I am learning my manners and work hard on figuring out that leash thing. (It kind of keeps me from what I feel I want to be doing.) I am UTD shots and preventatives, heartworm negative and have been neutered.

Our adoption fees are:
Dogs: $250
Cats: $95
Puppies under 4 months: $235 plus Spay/Neuter Deposit: $100
Kittens under 4 months: $70 plus Spay/Neuter Deposit: $100

All pets available for adoption have been spayed or neutered (unless under 4 months please read about our adoptions here ), are current on vaccinations and preventatives, and micro-chipped. Cats have been tested and confirmed negative for Feline AIDS and Leukemia. Dogs have been tested for heartworm disease.

Our shelter is located at 42 Deep River Rd in Sanford and is open Tues, Thurs,  & Fri from 3pm - 7pm & Sat from 10-2pm (other times available by appointment). CARA's adoption process and online application can be found at  http://www.cara-nc.org/info/adoption

Every animal that comes into the CARA program is here because one or more events occurred  that led to this animal needing not only a home, but a person or family to love and protect them.
