Donations make a difference. CARA requires $60,000 a year to operate full time. That’s operating with a very dedicated team of volunteers, medical care for over 1,000 animals a year, food, supplies, mortgage, utilities, and insurance. That number may seem overwhelming to some, but broken down it’s only 2400 people willing to donate at least $25 per year. Will you be one of the people who can take credit for saving thousands of lives? CARA is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and does not receive funding from local government or national animal welfare organizations. Our rescue efforts are funded by donations, bequests, and special events. Since we are an all volunteer organization, 100% of your tax-deductible donation directly benefits the animals. General contributions of any amount are always appreciated.   Become a CARA Volunteer!   We want our community to join in the pride of making CARA a successful organization. All volunteers get regular emails from CARA and personal invitations to special events.   A Tribute Contribution allows you to honor a person or pet with a gift to help the animals we serve. Request a contribution to CARA instead of gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, or holidays. All tributes will appear in our newsletter and website. A unique way to show you care! A Memorial Contribution is a wonderful way to honor the life of an animal lover or beloved pet. In many cases, families will request memorial donations be made in lieu of flowers. Memorial contributions will be acknowledged in our newsletter, unless otherwise requested, and with a card to the family.   Bequest and Estate Planning   Your love for animals can become your legacy. Your gift can impact the lives of animals for many years to come. For more information, please contact your estate planning attorney.   Work Place Giving   If you work for a company that matches its employees' gifts, please obtain a matching gift form from your human resources office and enclose it with your contribution.   Supply Donations   Supply Donations are always welcome as well. Gifts of cat and dog food (don't forget puppy & kitten food), cat litter, bleach, laundry detergent, garbage bags, old blankets, collars, leashes, etc. are always appreciated. Remember to keep your receipt since these items are eligible for 'gift in kind' tax deductions.   Shop and Give   Do your shopping through our online mall. And it's not just pet related, you'll find a store for almost every need. Every time you make a purchase through a link on our website, CARA will receive a percentage at no additional cost to you. Visit the online mall to learn more about how you can give to the animals while you shop. List CARA as your charity of choice, and every time you use your Food Lion MVP card a percentage will be donated to help the animals.
